STEMcation with UNH In-Person
Did you know that slimy biofilms can corrode pipes, medical devices, and even spacecraft materials? Join Dr. Huan Gu, a chemical and biomedical engineering researcher at the University of New Haven, for an engaging STEM program exploring how scientists and engineers are using cutting-edge biomaterials to solve real-world problems caused by biofilm corrosion.
This interactive program will highlight:
- What biofilms are and where they grow
- Why they cause damage in industries from healthcare to space exploration
- How new materials are being engineered to resist microbial attachment
- Hands-on and demo-based activities showing real-life applications
